Berguson Included in International Exhibition
February 6, 2006 - Professor Robert Berguson in the School of Art, won Best of Show and a Purchase Award with a prisma color drawing titled “Scribe #98” at the 21st Annual International Exhibition. The exhibition will be open at the Meadows Gallery at the University of Texas in Tyler until March 24th. Juror Andrea Karnes, curator at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, Texas, selected only 19 works from over 450 submitted, and picked his work for the top prize in the show.

Dablow Exhibits at Artspace in Shreveport
January 26, 2006 - School of Art Director, Dean Dablow, is presenting several of his photographs produced in Paris at Artspace in Shreveport located at 710 Texas Street through March 16. Dablow was in Paris looking for venues for the "French Quarter" program when these images were made. "Photographies de Paris" includes views of the shaped trees of Paris and the Eiffel Tower. Of the Eiffel Tower series Dablow states, "This is a difficult subject because the tower has been photographed more than any other object in the world. The challenge was to see it in a new way."

Jones Exhibit at Alexandria Museum of Art
January 20, 2006 - The Alexandria Museum of Art will feature an exhibition of 25 still life paintings by Peter Jones. The opening reception is Friday, January 20, from 5-7, and the exhibition will run until March 18. The work will be in the gallery overlooking the levee in the third floor of the new wing.

Bukowski Exhibits in Virginia and Pennsylvania
December 11, 2005 - Marie Bukowski has been one of four artists selected from around the world to participate in the Symbolic Printmakers exhibition at The College of William and Mary in Virginia. The exhibition opens on February 20th.

Bukowski has also been selected to exhibit her work in the Wall-to-Wall CFA exhibition in Pittsburgh, PA. This exhibition celebrates the 100th anniversary of the College of Fine Arts at Carnegie Mellon University. The show opens on January 20th.

Kennedy Sculpture on Exhibit at University of Alabama
December 2, 2005 - An exhibit of sculpture by Professor Kevin Kennedy is on view at the University Center Gallery at the University of Alabama in Huntsville through December 22nd. Abstract and delicate pieces such as "Passage," "Believe" and "Indifference" are included in the exhibit, which is called "Conveyance." Admission is free.

Graduate Student Receives Medal at Houston Show
November 30th, 2005 - A book designed by graduate student John R Powell received a bronze medal at the Art Director's Club of Houston Show in Houston, TX. The awards ceremony was held on November 5th at the Houston Zoo.

Bukowski Solo Exhibition in Bulgaria
April 10, 2006 -Louisiana Tech Professor of Art Marie Bukowski has a solo exhibition of her prints opening on May 5, 2006 at Lessedra Gallery in Sofia, Bulgaria. This survey of printmaking will exhibit over 200 of her prints and travel through three countries. She will attend the closing reception in Bulgaria on May 30th, giving a gallery talk and discussing printmaking practices in the United States, specifically at Louisiana Tech University. Her exhibition will travel to The City Museum in Timisoara, Romania and the Museum of Fine Arts in Szeged, Hungary. Seven School of Art students were selected to exhibit in Bulgaria during Bukowski's exhibition. Dane Landry will be the featured student, an MFA candidate in printmaking. Also exhibiting are Jessica Zadlo, an MFA candidate, and the following BFA students: John Jay Alvaro, Jacob Cotton, Deidra McKee, Marco Nelor, and Leah Word.

LaTech School of Art Faculty and Students Included in Masur Show
March 13, 2006 - The Masur Museum of Art is currently showing the 33rd Annual Juried Competition. Professors Berguson, Bukowski, Dablow, Jones, and Vellard all had work accepted for the exhibition. Former Professor Matt Willemsen received an Honorable Mention for his giclee print. BFA and MFA graduate Lacey Stinson was awarded Best In Show. Adjunct professor Glenn Kennedy, BFA graduates Charles Carraway and Lissy Sanders Babb, and current students Sarah Plaia Davidson, Rachel Speights, and Holly and Christy Pitre all are included in the exhibition. The Juried Competition opened on March 12 and will run through April 29, 2006.
